I am a mum of 3 children and creating beautiful dolls started as a fun hobby. In 2011 I was persuaded by an artist friend to try my hands and discovered I really enjoyed creating dolls for people to love . I am passionate about being able to create something that I have put my heart into. Individual creativity is important to me and so my dolls are rarely repeated and are very often one of a kind. I do not create many dolls in a year as it takes me a long time, it is not a production line and nor would I want it to be. If I create the same doll twice it will never look exactly the same as a previous creation as I like each one to be unique. You can be sure therefore that almost every creation from me is unique and is unlikely to be repeated!

Established in 2011, Thistledown Dolls is focused on creating beautiful baby dolls for doll collectors all over the world. I have created dolls for specialist events such as exhibitions, plays, conferences and marketing materials as well as for doll collectors. I have specialised purely in silicone work since early 2017 and aim to provide a high standard of artistry as well as the best professionalism that I can. The majority of my creations used to be painted to order however I am no longer accepting custom orders due to time constraints. I will continue to have my creations for sale as time permits.

Carefully creative

I purchase sculpts from many sculptors across the globe, who create these wonderful sculpts from blocks of clay. The sculpts take many months to complete and eventually mold into a silicone mold. The sculpts are then poured into silicone ready for finishing artists, like myself, to complete. Silicone dolls are limited in number and the number of dolls poured is determined by how long the mold holds out before breaking.

New blank silicone baby doll blank unpainted sculpts arrive regularly and usually are planned for creation several months ahead. As I begin the process of painting, sculpts go through a carefully executed preparation to ensure the very best results. Preparation involves washing, treating with alcohol substances to remove mold release agents from the pouring process followed by a layer of clear silicone to help seal and then provide a smooth surface to begin painting. All my dolls are completely hand painted and every single hair is hand rooted. I do not use airbrushing on my dolls.

Regular updates

You can expect regular updates on the creation of your baby doll and photos whilst painting is progressing. Most photos are high resolution and show the tiniest of details, some that even the eye cannot see very easily. Whenever you work with Thistledown dolls, you can trust that you’re in experienced and careful hands

Opening Hours

I work on dolls as time permits and have a family and a part time job so I am NOT available 24/7 but messages are usually answered within a day . I am in the UK so please be aware your timezone may be different. Please bear this in mind when contacting me. Phone calls can be arranged with an appointment should it be required.
